Performance Trailers Inc. of Madera is taking its newest product on the road, literally. It’s a new and much larger bottling trailer designed for the Central Valley’s smaller wineries.
The trailer is designed to be a mobile bottling plant, hauled to wineries when they need to bottle their product. Mobile bottling trailers are already in use in the Central Valley’s wine country, but the Performance Trailer is larger than most, the company says. The half million dollar trailer is designed to bottle in one day what most small wineries do in 45 days at a rate of 120 bottles a minute or 600 cases an hour. That’s a pace more than double that of smaller trailers, Performance says.
The 52-foot-long trailer and its equipment can accommodate 24 different bottle shapes and sizes. The sides of the trailer fold-down in order to facilitate bottling access. Clients are charged a bottling fee on a per bottle basis.
