• Toyota subsidiary to build $73 Million plant
• Will make parts for Fremont’s NUMMI assembly plant
Kyoho Machine Works LTD. of Aichi, Japan, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp., says it will build a $73 million plant in Stockton on a 37-acre site to make auto and truck body parts. Initial employment is put at 70. It’s Kyoho’s first manufacturing facility in the United States.
The company says it anticipates being operational by January 2008. The new facility will produce auto body parts for New United Motors Manufacturing (NUMMI) in Fremont, an auto and truck assembly plant owned jointly by Toyota and General Motors Corp. Other parts makers supplying the NUMMI plant have also located in the Stockton area in recent years.
The company says it expects to expand the Central Valley plant by installing a bigger machine to do pressing and welding. |
