• Will staff call center
• New hires will help expand phone service
Cable TV operator Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK) says it has added 60 new positions in Fresno and the surrounding area to staff a new call center to locally handle video repair calls and to offer additional installation and trouble-shooting. The expansion is also part of the company’s rollout of telephone service.
Thirty of the jobs will be based at the new call center located in Comcast’s facility in Fresno. It goes online April 16 and will field calls from customers in Fresno, Merced, Madera, Kings and Tulare counties.
Previously, trouble calls from this area were routed to Comcast’s Sacramento call center that would then dispatch local technicians to make repairs.
The additional 30 new positions are communications technicians who will help complete the installation work that will be required to offer Comcast’s residential telephone service, Comcast Digital Voice, which is scheduled to launch in early May. The technicians will be based in Comcast’s Fresno, Merced, Visalia, and Los Baños offices.
All 60 positions have already been filled, Comcast says.
Comcast recently announced the launch of Comcast Digital Voice residential phone service in Sacramento, Roseville, Davis, Placerville, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Marysville, and Yuba City. It says it will roll out the service next in Fresno, Hanford, Lemoore, Los Baños, Madera, Merced, Tulare and Visalia during the next month. |
