Strategic Location

Logistically, few places are better situated than Central California, with its proximity to the state’s two urban population centers and key transportation lines.  The central location is ideal for manufacturers and distributors with suppliers and customers in both markets.

Central California’s excellent highway system provides easy access to markets via ground transportation. Highway 99 and Interstate 5 offer north-south access and highways 152 and 58 provide east-west accessibility across California and to all points east. Raw and finished products may be trucked to the Bay Area or Los Angeles Basin within half a workday and to any point in the Western United States in less than 48 hours.

Companies will also find an active rail system operating throughout Central California with freight services provided by Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Union Pacific and San Joaquin Valley Rail. As many as 60 freight trains per day pass through the region delivering raw materials and finished goods. Amtrak provides frequent passenger service with six northbound and six southbound trains per day.

Overnight freight and air passenger service is handled through Fresno-Yosemite International and Meadows Field in Bakersfield. A number of smaller airports located throughout the region accommodate commuter and private traffic.
